Experimental facilities (under construction)
The research facility which we are in the process of setting up at the SPM and hard coatings group is a complete state-of-the-art surface science laboratory which allows for the comprehensive characterisation of the mechanics, thermical, ferroelectric, electronic properties and microstructure and structure properties of surfaces, interfaces and thin films and coatings. This laboratory comprises:
- DC, RF, pulsed DC magnetron sputtering and pulsed arc evaporation.
- Dimension 3100 Nanoscope IV Digital Instruments Veeco AFM System: AFAM, PFM, CR-PFM, KPFM, nanotribology, and conventional contact and tapping modes.
- Nanoindenter
- Ball milling millers.
